Why Attend a Genealogy Expo??

I was trying to figure out why someone should attend the Kitsap County Genealogy Expo. Because, then, you know, I could do a better job of convincing folks to come! I know I've benefited personally from going to events like this one, but I figured it was because I really wanted to be there, and I was really hoping to learn something new.

Then, I realized that one of the unexpected outcomes, of a very pleasant nature, was the opportunity of spending time, a fairly long time, with a whole bunch of people who also wanted to be there. A whole bunch of people, who, like me, loved (or, were at least interested in) genealogy and family history. 

We shared family stories with each other. We traded business cards (more like calling cards in most of our cases). We rejoiced and lamented over a variety of research experiences. And, we just plain reveled in being with other people who love what we love!

We are SO excited!

Our presentation schedule is finally complete. We have some fantastic classes on the roster again, this year. There is truly something for everyone, beginner to expert, young to not-so-young. We hope you'll take the opportunity to read through them and make your choices.

NOW is a perfect time to register! 
While registration is not mandatory, it is very helpful as we continue making preparations for this great event. (It also helps us feel better, knowing that at least some people are attending.) ☺

My, Oh, My! How Will You Choose?!

We have an amazing selection of presentations, if I do say so myself! It's just a lucky thing for me that I'll be busy presenting so I don't have to decide which classes to take. I am so, so pleased with the responses to our requests for presenters.

Just today, we added a presentation on Swedish and Norwegian research by a man who came up through the ranks. Bruce Tillman has both nationalities running through his veins. Through his quest to discover his Scandinavian heritage, he has become familiar with helpful programs and sites. He will be sharing his experience in the hopes of helping others further their research. I am so glad he has come on board.

There is still time to register. You can register at the site: http://kitsapgenexpo.org. You won't be locked in to the classes you choose; you can change your mind once you arrive at the expo. But, it will really help us have a more accurate head count.

Added another class...

We added our final (I think) class to the list of presentations available to our guests. Claire Smith, the current president of the Bainbridge Island Genealogical Society, will be sharing the importance of using directories in furthering your family history research. Directories are a much overlooked resource which can offer a variety of information of value to genealogists. Just one more great class coming to the Kitsap County Genealogy Expo! Register Now! I made some updates to class titles and descriptions yesterday. Oh, My! We have some wonderful presentations lined up. I don't know how you'll decide which ones to take. I would suggest bringing at least one friend. Then, you can divide and conquer. And, believe it, or not, we have two more speakers who will be announced this week. I'm so, so excited at what we have to offer. Please pass the word. There will definitely be something for everyone at this expo.

Registration for the Kitsap County Family History Expo is activated! We are so excited to be offering this first-time event for our area to you. We have some excellent presentations being offered from instructors with a great variety of experience. There is something for everyone.
